Post-production
Today I began capturing my footage on to the computer we realised we didn't record in HD so we had to change the setting to DV. When exported all the footage it were all put into one clip this is because we didn't stop capturing where I need to work on next time. I knew exactly what I wanted to edit and where everything were going to go so I could get straight on with it this helped with the knowledge of what I wanted as it saved time thinking of what to put where. I had to cut all the clips till it fitted. Editing went well and I am pleased with my final product and thought we worked well together.
Production
On set |
Today we started filming we were running a little late from schedule as Amy came late but we went straight to Elias house and set up for the prank call idea that was indoors and then we would move outdoors for the next scene.
We checked if the camera were white balanced and everything and made sure it were focused. It took about half an hour per project but we did get interupted by someone at the door but we finished filming about 11:30 I felt it went quite well and we worked well together and shared our ieas. On set we changed our idea of the knock a door run of someone running after the person at the door as we thought this would be funny.
The majority of the time on camera crew me and Amy worked together while Ben and Elias were in cast we did a lot of the camera work and decided where the camera would be placed and filled in a log sheet that would when editing. When filming for knock a door run the communication of getting Elias to the door wasn't so planned out but we managed and worked through it but we came together with getting a count down before he starts to come so we know when to start rolling the camera.
The idea of the video changed throughout filming as we thought the original weren't so good and could be improved so we decided to make the person at door scared and make it funny by funny down the street then reading the book.
Pre-production
On wednesday we were starting our paperwork after we decided the two ideas that we were taking on shoot for the final two products. We split in too pairs me and Amy worked on the Knock a Door run one whilst Ben and Elias were developing the idea of the Insurance Company Scan. In this session we weren't so pleased with the Insurance idea so we changed it too a prank call of two boys having a laugh and calling a pizza place and ordering a silly order that they didn't think they could.
Through this session I worked on the treatment and knowing what props were needed, the location, synopsis and target audience this is too enable us exactly what we want when filming. I also created breakdown sheets, call sheets, schedule we did a lot of this in pairs and helped off each other. I helped out with schedule and risk assessments for the prank call sequence as well. I thought this went quite well process and we all worked together as a team as we should do.
Ideas
Today 24th April 2012, we were split up into groups of 4 and shared each of our two ideas and picked two that we would re create into our own video.
Too begin we choose these ideas:
1. Knock a door run when a boy would go to the door and go to run away but the person opens the door straight away and when they run away they fall over.
2. Someone rings up to claim a phone but then realise they are ringing of the phone.

Self-reflective report
Overall, I believe my video didn't turn out how I expected when I came up with the idea and that I were unable to finish my project before the deadline that was a big disappointment to me.
When I was filming I feel the footage that were recorded was quite good and would suit the video and get the target audiences attention. But when it was all put onto the computer and I renamed the clips and put it all together I didn't feel so proud with all of the footage recorded and that if it were planned out more advance and to a higher profession it would of been finished and would of looked a good piece of work.
Also some of my storyboards ideas I didn't have on tape so this came to a problem when editing my footage together as it didn't all fit the purpose of the video. I feel the use of lighting I used worked was well with the 3 over head spot lights that came on the different people as it went well with the music but at some points the exposure looked a bit too bright which wasn't as good.
In some of my editing I used some of the out-takes because I felt that some of the clips that should of been used didn't work as well than was planned on the storyboards. I feel that if in editing stage I got all my work in and made it look good I would of like to add in colour eg black and white pictures, transitions and split screens to make it look more effective.
I am happy I used the studio for my video as it gives a good effect with the different lights but if I were to do it another time I think I would use more locations as it would look better and not some repetitive and maybe if it was in the studio like different lighting a lot more and effects to make it look good.
Overall, I am not very happy with my project as I didn't finish it all and couldn't do all the things I wanted to this is because I need to be better with time management and be able to do this and make it look good. Next time to improve my video I would like to make more effects into my video and also work better with time management skills.
Post- production
On Friday 23rd March I captured my footage on to Final Cut and then renamed the appropriate shots that were needed so I could easily put them together. This was a bit time consuming as it nearly took up a lot of the lesson where I would carry on the following lesson on 27th March.
I carried on editing on 27th March where I cut out some clips and made them appropriate and to the only bits that were needed this were quite time consuming and was a bit of a problem as it were the deadline day. I realised some of my footage weren't there so I was trying to overcome the problem by using outakes from the video whilst practicing and some clips from my original music video 'Cannonball'. Overall, I didn't finish my music video but had to export it while some clips were not included I was disappointed as I didn't reach the standard I wanted too.
